We're hiring founders, not employees.
Sonata is building the founding team — people who want to own something, not manage something. Three roles. Each one shapes the company. For context: Allegro, Sonata's form builder with behavioral targeting, is our first product and it's live today.
What it's actually like here
Small. Fast. Occasionally uncomfortable — in a good way.
You'll hear "that's not working" more often than "great job." Not because praise doesn't exist, but because the product improves faster when nobody's softening the message. If you've ever sat in a meeting where everyone agreed too politely and the product shipped worse for it, you know exactly what we're avoiding.
There's no middle management because there's no middle. You'll talk to the people using the product, make a decision about what to do with what you heard, and ship the result — sometimes in the same week. If that sounds exhausting, this isn't the right place. If it sounds like the part of the job you keep wishing you could get to, keep reading.
“I much prefer the sharpest criticism of a single intelligent man to the thoughtless approval of the masses.” Johannes Kepler
Allegro is live, more products are in development, and the platform is taking shape. The founding team is small enough that what you do will be visible in the product, the revenue, and the direction of the company.
This isn't a "get in early at a startup" pitch. It's a specific bet: you believe a small team with honest feedback loops will outperform a bloated org running on consensus and quarterly plans.
Head of Sales — Founding Role
Allegro has a product and early clients, but no repeatable sales motion. The first playbook doesn't exist yet because the person who writes it hasn't joined.
Pipeline from zero. Pricing validation with real customers. The first sales process — what works, what doesn't, and why. Direct input into product direction based on what you're hearing in conversations nobody else at the company is having.
Someone who's built a sales function before, not just managed one. Comfortable selling a product that's still evolving. Allergic to a 40-slide deck when a 10-minute conversation would close it faster.
This is an equity-only role. Sonata is pre-revenue at scale, and founding roles are compensated with meaningful ownership, not a salary — yet. If you need a paycheck on day one, we get it, and there's no judgment. If you'd rather own a piece of what you're building, let's talk.
Head of Marketing — Founding Role
Allegro has a clear value proposition and no market presence. Everything from positioning to content to demand generation needs to be built.
Brand positioning. Content engine. Demand generation. Market awareness from near-zero to recognizable in the spaces where Sonata's customers look for tools. You'd set the strategy and do the work — there's no team to delegate to initially, and that's the point.
Someone who can write the blog post AND plan the campaign it belongs to. More interested in what actually drives signups than what looks impressive in a marketing review. Uncomfortable with vanity metrics.

Head of Finance — Founding Role
Sonata needs financial infrastructure that doesn't exist yet. The pricing model is live, the revenue is early, and every financial decision right now sets a precedent for what comes next.
Financial model. Pricing strategy validation. Fundraising support. Operational finance — the systems, the reporting, the forecasting. You'd build the function, not inherit it.
Someone who wants to build finance from scratch, not optimize an existing function. Comfortable with ambiguity and small numbers today because you can see what the numbers become when the foundation is right. More interested in being right than being precise.

Send us your resume and a note. Tell us which role interests you, what you're looking for in a position, and how you'd help Sonata grow. Fit matters as much as skill — we'd rather hear how you think than read a list of where you've been.
